NCBA Collaborates with AWS to Train 3,000 Employees in Digital Skills

NCBA has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a comprehensive digital skills training program for over 3,000 employees across the East African region.

This collaboration aims to elevate the technical capabilities of NCBA’s workforce, positioning the bank as a leader in digital innovation within the financial services sector.

The partnership leverages AWS Training and Certification resources to create tailored educational offerings that empower NCBA’s employees.

Participants will engage in interactive online sessions through AWS Digital Classroom, focusing on essential areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Big Data Analytics.

John Gachora, NCBA’s Group Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to work with AWS to provide our employees with access to world-best practice-based training. We are accelerating our digital transformation efforts, enabling us to bring new end-to-end digitized customer journeys to market.”

The strategic focus on workforce development is vital, as maintaining a skilled team is essential for adapting to the rapidly changing digital landscape. Martin Risau, head of EMEA Training and Certification at AWS, added, “Organizations need cloud-skilled professionals to drive business transformation. The availability of skilled talent is the single biggest barrier to industry transformation”

We are thrilled to collaborate with NCBA in helping upskill their workforce to meet future digital skill needs

The Digital Skills Training program is set to launch in September 2024, featuring a structured rollout designed to maximize employee participation and engagement. Throughout the program, participants will work towards earning AWS Certifications that will validate their newly acquired skills.

With over 100 branches across five countries—Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ivory Coast—and serving more than 60 million customers, NCBA Group stands as Africa’s largest banking entity by customer numbers.

The bank has established itself as a leader in corporate banking, asset finance, and digital banking, reinforcing its commitment to supporting Africa’s economic ambitions.
