The M-PESA Foundation has partnered with Zuri Health to provide a free SMS and WhatsApp medical consultation service.
This service will be available to patients who have been treated at the M-PESA Foundation’s free medical camps in all 47 counties across Kenya.
It is estimated that over 160,000 patients will benefit from this six-month service, which offers consultations with certified doctors. Patients who attend the Foundation-funded medical camps will be able to add up to three beneficiaries to the service.
This service will also provide personalized care to patients with chronic conditions identified during screening at the health camps.
“This is the first time that we are using technology in our free medical camps to provide patients with necessary follow-up care after the medical camps. We will also use the platforms to provide patients with health education and self-care tips to help them manage their health more effectively,” said Henry Kilonzo, Senior Manager, Foundations Programmes, during one of the camps held at Olympics Primary School in Kibra.
Patients can access all doctor services using a dedicated chatbot number and SMS shortcode. All patients will be on-boarded on their services using the contact information collected during the camps.
M-PESA Foundation recently announced a KES.46 million investment towards free medical camps to be conducted across all 47 counties, with the first camp already held in Lamu.
