SafeBoda closes operations in Kenya indefinitely

On Monday, Safeboda, a service platform network of safe taxi motorbike “Boda” drivers, said it is closing its operations indefinitely due to uncertainties of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet by Safeboda, the company said that it is pausing rides and send services from the 27th of November 2020.

“Boda transportation has been hit hard. This has meant our business cannot sustainably operate in this environment and unfortunately, the timeline for a full recovery is not certain” the statement read in part.

 

Users with wallet balance on Safeboda platform will be reversed by 26th or 27th of November.

The firm also added that SafeBoda will continue to grow in Uganda and Nigeria and will continue to be dedicated to empowering its communities to thrive.

Safeboda was founded in 2015 in Kampala, Uganda to bring innovation, safety and community to the rapidly growing motorcycle taxi industry in Africa in a bid to bring innovation, safety and community to the rapidly growing motorcycle taxi industry in Africa.
