Anjarwalla & Khanna (A&K), has partnered with Microsoft to launch an incubator programme aimed at unearthing and nurturing innovation in the legal industry.
The initiative will be undertaken through the A&K Legal Tech Incubator Hub which will see legal tech start-ups and individuals with disruptive legal tech ideas, battle it out for a spot in the A&K Legal Tech Incubator Hub.
According to A&K partner in charge of innovation Dominic Rebelo, the initiative is a first of its kind for the legal industry in East Africa.
“Legal firms encounter a myriad of challenges whose solutions could be provided by ideas from such platforms. Kenya has an already thriving tech scene and the launch of this initiative will go a long way in driving digital transformation in the legal industry.”
Over 70 applicants entered the first contest and were reviewed today by a panel of judges. Five finalists will present their ideas before the panel of judges in a closed presentation session on March 19th March 2020.
As part of the A&K Legal Tech Incubator Hub, the winners will get free premium office working space at ALN House, state-of-the-art technology provided by Microsoft, access to advocates, business services teams and a Pan-African and Global network of clients and potential customers, as they develop their businesses.
Otilia Phiri, Commercial Attorney, MEA Emerging Markets at Microsoft said that they are excited to be at the forefront of this transformation in Kenya.

The five-judge panel will be composed of A&K Managing Partner Karim Anjarwalla, A&K partner in charge of innovation Dominic Rebelo, A&K Innovation Manager Robert Kiriinya, Commercial Attorney, MEA Emerging Markets for Microsoft Otilia Phiri and Somet Kipchilat, Partner Development Manager, Microsoft 4Afrika.
