Tecno has recently introduced the PHANTOM V Fold in Kenya, following the release of the Phantom X2 Pro which boasts the world’s first retractable portrait lens just three months ago.
The PHANTOM V Fold features dual LTPO screens that provide an adaptive 10-120Hz high refresh rate, ensuring seamless motions and fluid transitions when folded and unfolded.
The sub-screen measures 6.42 inches and has a unique micro-curved design with a 21:9 aspect ratio, providing a flagship smartphone experience. When unfolded, the device boasts a stunning 7.85-inch display with an optimal 8:7 aspect ratio and an ultra-flat screen with a barely visible crease.
Tecno has developed an aerospace-grade drop-shaped hinge, which creates an almost crease-free surface and significantly improves the phone’s structural stability. The hinge’s reverse snap structure, coupled with aerospace-grade construction materials, results in a light and sturdy design.
The self-developed fixed-axis rotation and slide technology hinge ensures that the phone’s main inner screen fits tightly together, leaving a barely noticeable crease. The crease measures only 0.11mm when new, and the device can handle 200,000 folds.
The PHANTOM V Fold is equipped with a Dimensity 9000+ processor, which is a dual-5G processor with dual-SIM functionality customized for the phone’s large-screen design. This processor allows for efficient multitasking and seamless switching between screens. Moreover, the phone’s performance is further enhanced by 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512GB UFS 3.1 flash storage.
The phone also features a powerful 5000mAh (type) battery with rapid 45W charging that can boost the phone to 40% in just 15 minutes and fully charge in 55 minutes.
The PHANTOM V Fold’s ultra-clear 5-lens photography system features three rear lenses and two front lenses, with the 50MP Super Night main camera, a super light-sensitive custom 1/1.3-inch sensor, large f/1.85 aperture and 7P composition. The phone’s night imaging capabilities are further enhanced by AI-powered Super Night Portrait, Super Night Mode, and Super Night 4K Video.
The other rear lenses are a powerful 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical and 20x digital zoom and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Two front lenses, one on the sub screen and the other on the main inner screen, allow for large-screen image capturing, video calling, and video conferencing.
Tecno has developed HiOS13 Fold, a highly optimized and customized operating system based on Google’s Android 13, designed for the foldable device.
The system includes large-screen capabilities such as split screens, picture-in-pictures, parallel windows, and drag and drop across screens, providing users with productivity and enjoyment.
Tecno has customized the top 1,000 apps with the highest download frequency globally, with 90% adapted to support split-screen and multi-window modes. In total, over 2000 apps have been adapted for HiOS13 Fold.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold is available in two models; Phantom V Fold (256+12 GB) and Phantom V Fold (512+12 GB), retailing at Ksh. 129,999 and Ksh. 143,999, respectively.
