Twitter announces Super Follow allowing users to charge for tweets

Twitter has announced a new paid subscription service dubbed “Super Follows” which will allow users to get exclusive content, deals, and community access to creators.

The social media platform announced the potential new Super Follows service at its annual investor meeting, as it searches for new revenue streams beyond targeted advertising.

The service going for $4.99 (550) a month will give an opportunity for authors the ability to directly monetize their audience on Twitter.

The new feature according to TechCrunch aims to combine the community trends of Discord, the newsletter insights of Substack, the audio chat rooms of Clubhouse and the creator support of Patreon into a creator subscription.

According to Twitter, super follows would provide users with access to newsletters, special badges and other “exclusive content.”
