TikTok has toppled Google as the most popular website globally in 2021 to the number 1 spot closing the year with more traffic than the search giant.
The report by Cloudfare’s top domain ranking indicates that TikTok, the short video app, managed to take the lead for a few days in February, March, and May.
“There were some days when Google was #1, but October and November were mostly TikTok’s days, including on Thanksgiving (November 25) and Black Friday (November 26),” Cloudflare said in the report.
Cloudflare noted that TikTok, currently with over one billion active users across the world, was aided by the onslaught of the pandemic, boosting the app to the top spot this year.
The Chinese-owned App has incredibly become popular in a short span of time and inspired platforms, like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts among others.
